The case is covered in rich Bubinga and bird’s-eye maple wood veneer and finished in a high gloss polyurethane finish which gives it the luxurious, glass-like finish. The playing surface is highlighted by a wide black inlay accentuating the colors of the natural wood. The case has 2 drawers, one on each player’s side, with a total of 32 individual compartments lined with a soft beige velour material for storing and protecting chess pieces. This case has 2″ squares that are large enough for chess sets with a king base diameter ranging from 1.5″ to 1.625″. The compartments will hold chess pieces with up to a 4″ tall king and a base diameter of 1.7″.
